Sexual Health Educator Certified and also currenly completing the A.S. Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences at City College of San Francisco. Majoring in Women's Studies and English with an empasis in Creative Writing, in the genre of poetry.
Experience
I was a free-lance tutor on my college campus at the start of my higher education but had to put it aside in order to focus on keeping my own grades from slipping. I have currently completed all of the English requirements at City College of San Francisco, and have also managed to balance my school work with my familial obligations in caring for my 96 year old grandfather. I have a 2.88 GPA due to some personal struggles but have also dedicated myself to raising my GPA back to above a 3.0. I would like to be a tutor because I enjoy teaching and feel that it would give me more experience and help to make the decision if I want to continue on the path to becoming a teacher at the community college level. I am friendly and able to connect with young people from diverse backgrounds due to my having worked at City College of San Francisco in varied departments, including the Women's Studies Department and the LGBT Department. In 2009, I was chosen to be a panelist at the National Women's Studies Association Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The panel was about discussing activism and the movement of intersectionality at the community college.
